Babies, Beignets, and the Big Easy

Rob has to go to New Orleans every few months for his job, and since I'd never been, in May (am I behind much???) we took advantage of one of his business trips to go on a little family trip.

It's only a 45 minute flight from Houston, which is just about the perfect amount of time to be stuck on an airplane with 2 babies, so we landed and hit the ground running.
We spent most of our time in the French Quarter listening to street musicians playing Jazz music,
Window shopping, and taking pictures of the awesome architecture (which was actually built by the Spanish when the original French Quarter burned down in the 1700s),
And eating beignets in an outdoor cafe waiting for the rain to stop.  (Which conveniently gave us time to order seconds!)
We also got to have our first fancy-pantsy date since the babies arrived.  Rob had a work dinner scheduled at Commander's Palace, one of the swankiest restaurants in town, and got permission for me to be his date.  We found a local member of our church who was a college student there to babysit, got dressed up, and went out for a night on the town.
The food was DELICIOUS, Rob's coworkers and Judge were great company, and when I got back to the hotel the babies were fast asleep.  It was great.

I think 2 days in New Orleans was the perfect amount of time to spend.  Next time we'll squeeze in a swamp tour (you get to feed alligators with marshmallows!!!), and probably some more beignets, but all in all it was a great little trip.
And this poor mule was sad to see us go...

How fun! It all sounds incredible--esp. the fact that the flight was only 45 min. long. Those girls are darling and I want to meet them before they're teenagers. Also, you are looking hot!
